Dehydration Station
Looking to extend the shelf life of your fresh dulse seaweed? All you need is a food dehydrator or a low-heat setting on your oven.
For the best results, set the temperature to 100-120°F and allow the seaweed to dry for around three to four hours. You’ll know it’s ready when it’s brittle and crisp to the touch. Once done, it is best to store it in an airtight container in a cool dark area to maintain freshness. Dried dulse has a shelf life of around two years if stored properly.
You can use dried dulse in a variety of different recipes - blend it into salad dressings or dips, mix it into compound butters or oils, or sprinkle it into any of your favorite recipes for an added nutrient boost.
If dried just really isn’t your style, you can always rehydrate your dulse by letting it soak in cool water for 5-10 minutes. It should be soft and pliable when hydrated.
