A Smokey Twist on Furikake

Furikake is a traditional Japanese seasoning typically sprinkled over rice, vegetables, or fish. Nori is commonly used as the seaweed base for this seasoning, but it can be substituted with dulse to give it a naturally smokey flavoring.

With just a few ingredients, you can bring a taste of the coast to your kitchen!

  • ½ cup dried Pacific dulse, finely crumbled
  • 2 tablespoons white sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon flaky sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon sugar (optional, but traditional)
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder (optional twist)
  • Pinch red pepper flakes (optional heat)
